Semaglutide, also known as Ozempic or Wegovy, has been FDA-approved for weight loss. Semaglutide should be used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise.

How does it work?

Semaglutide works by mimicking a natural hormone called GLP-1. This incretin hormone plays an active role in your digestion and appetite. Incretins, hormones released by your digestive tract, are sent out after you’ve eaten a meal. They help control blood sugar spikes, lower blood sugar, and slow down how quickly food leaves your stomach, allowing you to feel full longer. For many people, this can be the help they need to reduce their calorie intake to start losing weight and becoming healthier.

How much weight can I lose?

In studies, average weight loss is around 15%! That is a substantial amount of weight and life changing for most people. While we do not guarantee this amount of weight loss, because there are many external factors that go into your success, we have seen this type of success in our clinic in a fairly short amount of time.

How is Semaglutide supplied and given?

We will supply you with pre-filled syringes. There is no need to measure your medication as it is ready to go when we give it to you! The injection needs to be given on the same day each week and can be taken with or without food. Semaglutide is typically given in your abdomen, upper arm, or thigh. It is recommended to change injection sites with each dose. It is supplied via a subcutaneous injection. This type of injection is very easy to self administer in the comfort of your own home. Don't worry, we will teach you how to do this during your visit!

What are the Side-Effects and Contraindications?

The most common side-effect of Semaglutide is nausea. Other possible side-effects are other digestive issues, while less common, are diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, dyspepsia, dizziness, abdominal distension, belching, hypoglycemia, flatulence, gastroenteritis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.. You may experience these symptoms more strongly at the onset of starting Semaglutide or when/if the injection dose increases.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare but can be deadly. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. Report adverse side effects to your doctor or pharmacist. In the event of any emergency, call 911 immediately.

Semaglutide can NOT be given to any patient with a history of thyroid cancer or family history of thyroid cancer or a history of MEN 2 or a family history of MEN 2.

What if I am nauseous?

Nausea is the most common side effect of semaglutide. If you start experiencing nausea, we recommend trying some ginger chews and ginger ale. There are also many over the counter anti-nausea aids that might help.

You can also give yourself the injection at night before you go to sleep, that may reduce the side effects.

Our goal, at Neko Rose & Co., is to limit these side-effects with a commonsense approach to Semaglutide. Generally, for your first month, we will start you at a lower dose of Semaglutide to allow your body to get used to it and then increase the dose, if needed monthly. The goal is for you to start losing weight with little to no nausea!

Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide is the next generation in GLP weight loss medications and the results are nothing short of amazing!

Tirzepatide, also known as Mounjaro, is once-weekly injectable dual glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist. It works by increasing insulin production and lowers glucagon secretion as well as targets areas in the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. A small change in the molecule allows the drug to last weeks in our bodies rather than the natural version our bodies make, which lasts minutes. Tirzepatide does not currently have an FDA designation for weight loss and therefor is being used “off label”.

How Does Tirzepatide Work?

Tirzepatide acts in the following ways:
● Delays how quickly our stomachs digest food. Leading to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes.
● Slows intestinal motility so you will feel fuller longer after meals.
● Dual action receptor allows for lower blood sugars, in part by reducing the production of sugar in the liver.
● Stimulates insulin secretion by the pancreas.
● GIP increases energy expenditure, resulting in weight loss reductions.

How is Tirzepatide supplied and given?

Tirzepatide is given similar to Semaglutide. We will supply you with pre-filled syringes. Our Tirzepatide also contains B12 in each dose that has been shown to help alleviate nausea that can be associated with these types of medications. There is no need to measure your medication as it is ready to go when we give it to you! The injection needs to be given on the same day each week and can be taken with or without food. Tirzepatide is typically given in your abdomen, upper arm, or thigh. It is recommended to change injection sites with each dose.

*500mcg/mL of Cyanocobalamin added to reduce nausea side effects.
